A scientific article documenting the first sighting and photographic record of the Little Bunting in Tripura was published in Indian BIRDS, Vol. 21 No. 2. It is especially gratifying that the contributions of members of our team were duly acknowledged in the article.
২০২৪ সালের ২ নভেম্বর গোমতী জেলার উদয়পুরের কাছে খিলপাড়া, সুখসাগরের জলাভূমিতে পাখি পর্যবেক্ষণের সময় পার্থসারথি চক্রবর্তী একটি খুদে চটকের (Little Bunting, Emberiza pusilla) ছবি তোলেন। ছবিগুলি দেখে সুমন বিশ্বাস পাখিটিকে খুদে চটক হিসেবে শনাক্ত করেন। সেদিন দলে আরও ছিলেন দীপায়ন চক্রবর্তী, শাওন কুরি ও শোভা ঘোষ। এটি ছিল ত্রিপুরায় প্রজাতিটির প্রথম নথিভুক্ত দর্শন ও আলোকচিত্র। প্রায় দুই মাস পর, ৩১ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৪-এ একই এলাকার কাছাকাছি পার্থসারথি চক্রবর্তী ও সুমন বিশ্বাস দুটি খুদে চটককে আবার দেখতে পান—যা ত্রিপুরায় প্রজাতিটির দ্বিতীয় নথিভুক্ত পর্যবেক্ষণ।
On 2 November 2024, during a birding visit to the marshland at Khilpara, Sukhsagar, near Udaipur in Gomati District, Parthasarathi Chakrabarti photographed a Little Bunting (Emberiza pusilla). The bird was subsequently identified from the photographs by Suman Biswas. Dipayan Chakraborty, Shawon Kuri and Sova Ghosh were also part of the team that day. This constituted the first documented sighting and photographic record of the species in Tripura. Nearly two months later, on 31 December 2024, Parthasarathi Chakrabarti and Suman Biswas sighted two Little Buntings near the same location, marking the second documented observation of the species in the state.
